Description
Jonathan Kozol

Over nearly 50 years of working with children in inner-city schools, Jonathan Kozol has been a tireless and fiery advocate for the issues surrounding education inequity and for genuinely integrated public education. His books in this field include The Shame of the Nation, Amazing Grace, and Savage Inequalities. He has received two Guggenheim and two Rockefeller Fellowships, the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award, and the 1967 National Book Award for Death at an Early Age, a chronicle of his first year as a teacher in Boston’s public schools. The Theft of Memory, the most personal story of Kozol’s career, tells of his brain-specialist father’s decent into and expert description of Alzheimer’s disease.
