|Paul Muldoon | The Word on the Street: Rock Lyrics|
“The most sophisticated and original poet of his generation,” (The New York Review of Books), Paul Muldoon received the Pulitzer Prize for his 2003 poetry collection Moy Sand and Gravel. His many other honors include the T. S. Eliot Award, the Irish Times Poetry Prize, the Griffin International Prize, the Aspen Prize, and the European Prize for Poetry. Described as “the most significant English-language poet born since the Second World War,” (The Times Literary Supplement), Muldoon also has a passion for rock and roll, collaborating with legendary songwriter Warren Zevon, and playing in his band Wayside Shrines. In his new collection, Muldoon finds common ground between poetry and rock music, from W.B. Yeats’s ballad-singing porter drinkers to Buddy Holly and Bruce Springsteen.
